About
My name is Jonathon “Johnny” Grimmer, I’m a senior assistant director of enrollment operations at Lynn University and a Slate Community Ambassador. I have eight years of higher education experience ranging from small private colleges to large public research universities. I have worked in three different instances of Slate in varying capacities. I started using Slate as an admissions counselor at St. Joseph’s College on Long Island where I first learned how to build queries, run Deliver mailings, and manage events. When I moved on to my role as an admissions counselor at Stony Brook University I facilitated the implementation process and assisted with staff training to ensure a smooth transition from SBU’s old CRM to Slate. While at Stony Brook I was fortunate enough to have opportunities to work on Slate projects outside of my role as an admissions counselor and was able to learn about Configurable Joins, portal building, Scheduler, and various database tools (e.g. Upload Dataset/Source Formats, Rules, etc.).
My combined experience at St. Joseph’s College and Stony Brook University set the foundation for me to land my current position as an assistant director of enrollment operations at Lynn University where I have had the fortune to focus solely on Slate. I feel like my knowledge and experience with Slate have increased exponentially since joining Lynn and I attribute a lot of that to members of the Slate Community that have answered my questions and helped guide me in the right direction when learning new concepts in Slate. I’ve created this site in an effort to showcase major Slate projects that I have worked on and to provide resources to members of the community in a focused and intentional way.
